Getting started
Dual tuition is used to extend or adapt the curriculum capability available for ākonga (students) who are enrolled with a Dual Provider School or Organisation.
A Dual Provider can be a:
- Primary or Secondary School
- Alternative Education Centre
- Activity Centre
- Teen Parent Unit
- Health School or
- Ara Poutama Aotearoa / Department of Corrections facility.
Dual tuition can either be funded by the government or fee-paying, depending on the situation and eligibility of each ākonga. The Ministry of Education sets the eligibility criteria for government-funded Dual tuition.
Dual Providers must agree to the Dual Provider Partnership Agreement, which sets out how we would like to work together to support our learners.
Te Kura offers a wide range of courses for dual enrolled ākonga, many learn using our online learning platform My Te Kura.
To get started, contact Student and Whānau Support on 0800 65 99 88 option 1 or the Kairuruku Hononga (Relationship Coordinator) for your region, to discuss any situation we might be able to help with.
